Tomorrow I'll be going to the local Flea Market to buy a new coin for my type set from one of the dealers there. The only problem is, I can't decide which type I should buy. So I'll let my fellow coin talkers vote and decide for me! Here is a list of all the types I need that I can afford. Vote for which one you think I should get. Classic Head Half Cent Braided Hair Half Cent 1859 Indian Head Cent Copper-Nickel Indian Head Three Cent Silver Three Cent Nickel Shield Nickel Half Dime (only have liberty seated with arrows right now) Liberty Seated Quarter
i would suggest since you dont know send the money to me ill buy a nice coin and you can admire the pics
I picked the seated quarter thinking that may be available in decent condition at a flea market of all the choices provided. However, for any of your goals, don't settle for just anything (problem condition coins) to meet your objectives. Sometimes, it takes some time to find the right one. This is something I have to work on myself. Do you really find decent coins at value prices at a flea market? I haven't gone to many so that is a non-sarcastic question.
Well it really depends on the dealer, not where the dealer is located. For some reason, flea market dealers seem to be looked at negatively, but the guys at my local flea market are pretty good.
My advice would be to similar to Jack's. Go with whatever is the best value. There might be a really great deal on the perfect coin for your set, if you find it. Good luck, and enjoy the hunt!
I second this one, it seems like a lot of these older coins have that "lightly cleaned" thing, and if it is under orig toning it can be tricky.
3 cent silver. Those little buggers are really difficult to find decently priced in AU & up. Don't get it if it's under AU.
Nope just anything really nice that i can put into my set. And I'll probably just end up taking everyones advice and finding the coin there that is the best value for my money. That seems to be the popular vote =P
I'm going to go with AZJack on this one too. Buy what is the best value and no problem. I was leaning toward 3 cent silver too but only because I like them. Heck, I like all the coins on your list. When I go to shows I always have a list and a secondary list. I have gone to shows and bought nothing on occasion. Get the best example you can for your money.
I was going to say the 1859 Indian Head Cent only because I like IHCs and it's a first year of issue that can be gotten at a reasonible price. But my experience with flea market coin sellers (I wont call them dealers), is that they usually have bags of AG3s and worse coins to sort through and buy. The best advice has been stated above: Buy the BEST coin value for your money. Bruce
I'd have to go with Jack , buy the best coin for the money & if there isn't someting you really like wait till another day , never buy just because you can , later you'll wish you didn't . rzage
I would have voted, but did not see a choice for "All of the above". Sounds like you made a good decision though.
