I have been needing a type 1 buffalo nickel for a long time now and finally purchased one recently for my type set. I know its nothing rare but I just loved it. Anyone that can guess the grade gets a cookie.
vg 40? That is my guess, without looking in the ANA handbook BTW http://www.mrbrklyn.com/buffalo_nickles.html
Your pictures are not showing much luster. I would venture a guess around 64 - no obvious signs of wear or distracting hits. The luster would need to be shown before I went higher. Still nice coin.
That was what I was assuming. It has good detail, but I can't tell if it is a weak strike or wear. The photos may not be doing it justice.
The mark on the lower obverse seems to limit grade. 62 seems a bit low, but I can see it. This is a tough series to grade in MS -- one of the toughest for me, personally.
Magnifique! Wow Mat!! That is BEAUTIFUL! I have a T2 1915 Buffalo 5c, but it looks awful compared to yours! Great aquisition, I didn't expect it to be that nice when you were telling me about it..... but wow, I am very impressed! I'm not good at giving grades, especially number grades since I have been dealing with little more than Ancients for the past 5 years or so.... but it looks like it has a fully visible horn on the buffalo, so definitely high grade... I just think it is beautiful.
