Purchased on recent CNG sale. I haven't seen coin in hand yet know from trusted friend that had seen it that it is quite nice. Oddly, I was offered to buy this exact coin close to a decade ago, and had sticker shock. 1670 IAN. Leopold I (1657-1705) "The Hogmouth" Broad 2 Taler. Graz Mint. Johann Anton Nowak. 59mm, 50.7 grams. Herinek 562; DAV-292; KM-1269x. Obv: Large laureate draped bust right. in ornate circle, imperial and royal titles. Rev: Archducal crown over oval 15-fold shield in Collar of the Golden Fleece, Panther of Styria in top row. Legend consists of titles ARCHI. AVSTRIAE. DVX. BVRGVNDIAE. STYRIAE Ec., 16-70. NGC MS-63. Pedigreed to the Jonathan K. Kern Collection.
wow very nice, congratulation Zohar. I saw Hogmouth 2 taler just yesterday at a coin show. It was very impressive, although i dont like the oversized NGC holder. Is this a raw coin ?
Thanks everyone these coins are made using roller dies hence the curvature. This double taler is different than the typical Hogmouth doubles due to the massive flan size (60mm).
