I've been looking at some older Canadian coins lately. Picked up a few from Prince Edward Island, and a gorgeous 1900 Canadian quarter. Don't have any from Newfoundland, but its on my list!
Nice Coins Ripley This is one of my favorite Newfoundland pieces in my collection. It has very low mintage.
It is MS65 according to NGC I found it raw at the ANA in Boston last summer. The coin is actually a lot more flashy & bright that it appears in my photo.
Very nice examples Ripley, beautiful. Collect89: those two of yours are great! I have a 1941-C 5cents that has rainbow-ish toning that I really want to get certified. Matticusfinch: Quite a collection of beautiful coins you have there! The 1943 5 cents you have looks almost prooflike, beautiful stuff mate. Seems you guys all have this thread covered, as far as good examples and high quality pics goes...but just in case, I will add a couple of mine.... My first two pics are of a coin similar to the first two of the Original Poster (Ripley) mine is an 1919-C 50 cents. I got it for spot years back when silver was $9 an oz. And next is one of my favorites of Newfoundland, my 1894 10 cents, I love the reverse design that goes around the words on these types. And the last two pics are of another of my favorite NFLD coins, my 1941-C with the interesting toning. Its beautiful, just too bad about the tiny nick on the King's cheek. I have a number of other 10 and 5 cent pieces from 1941 - 1943, but none as nice as the 1941-C I posted.
You guys are making me start to seriously want some of these Newfy coins. I love the clean and simple designs like the older Canadian coinage was, but I can't afford what I already have on my want list!!!
