not sure what the going rate on a set is right now, but looks like they might have used satin finish coins for the uncirculated coins towards the end of the set... not sure if that matters to you though.

personally, i'd never buy a set like this unless I could see it in hand or i really trusted the seller. There's just no way to tell whether any of the coins have fingerprints, scratches, haze, etc. But if you get it and it looks great then good for you, if you're unhappy with the set in any way, then looks like there's a return policy too.

I didn't go for an album of these, I just collected all of the proof and mint sets instead and kept them in the government plastic... more fun to be able to see them all at once in an album though.

I think you did good. I checked eBays completed auctions and it looks like they usually sell for around $100 more.

Wow! That's a lot of coins. I'm working on the silver proofs right now. I'm collecting them in the mint plastic and when I have them all, I'm gonna frame the holders all together and hang it on the wall. I'm doing the same with the proof silver eagles as well.

Your price is very good. If they don't measure up to your standards...just send 'em back. I usually ask an eBay seller at least twice if the coins are absolutely haze and toning free. It's always hard to tell from the pics.

    Good luck!

Considering how much the early Proof and Silver Proofs go for separately I'd say you did pretty good.

The albums are a nice bonus. I use the Dansco Albums but sometimes wish I would have gone with the Intercept shields. Let us know how it looks in hand.

I don't think it was a good deal at all, here's why -

You have no guarantee that the business strike coins are even Unc - he could have taken them from his pocket change for all you know. You won't know if the silver coins are even silver, the Proofs could all be hazy and hairlined. There's a dozen things that could be wrong.

And if you don't like the set when you get it - all he will do is give you another one just like it.

What do I know but the shipping looks sky high to me so they make an extra 11-12 dollars that way. Coins "look" good.
