I have an idea that coins like this have to be put under very close scrutiny to determine if they are real or not. I would not dare to tell you if your coins are real or fake just by looking at photo of them.
Oh No. not Just that, Things like Design Features, Surface Texture, Color, Weight. They will require an Expert to make a judgement call. And that may require a fee. You may get an opinion, but what you need is certification. So what is the coin worth if it is real? How much trouble/expense to find out if it is? These coins are not collected by your average Collector, they are a special niche of there own. Mostly because they are Counterfeited. I suggest you take them to a local coin shop and ask for help.
Thanks so much! I am looking at a variety of coins similar that are coming up on a local auction and thought it might pay to take a small risk, say $10, do you think that is wise? I can afford it.
For coins like these, elementary steps would include seeing if they are magnetic and seeing if they are the correct weight. After that seeing if the design is sharp and clear (real) or kind of soft and mushy (fake), sometimes a difficult task.
