If I wanted do get a used die for the New York state quarter, and the US Mint is sold out, is there any place (other than eBay, preferably) where I could find them.
Also, what's a fair price to pay for one of those?
    Thanks in advance!

the best i can think of is to try some of the other auction sites. I wouldn't pay anymore than a small (10-20%) premium over what the mint was charging for the die. I suspect, however, that most if not all the people who bought them did so to keep them in their collections as opposed to bringing them onto the open market.

    die

I bought an Iowa state quarter die that I thought I may try to resell, But after getting it I decided to keep it. I think it kind of a unique addition to My collection.

its really just a hunk of metal as they grind off all detail.

so when you have the die from the mint you can't see what coin what made with it? if that's the case you can just buy a newer die that mint is selling at the moment ... you'll know it's not NY but you won't be able to see a difference

True, the die is defaced, but it comes with a certificate that states which quarter it struck, how long it was used and how many coins it struck. It also includes one of the first coins struck with that die.

Well, I'm only getting it for personal reasons, not for money.
