I just started my collection with a 1837 1c Feuchtwanger MS62 in pcgs, I want to spend no more than 1000.00 this coming year on coins and I want to coolectonly the key dates and rarer coins, with that in mind what sould I get it could be 2 at 500 a peice or one or many please help with you suggestions. By the way I may have given a little to much for the Feuchtwanger but I really like it and plan on keeping it so I am happy with it. Thanks for any help
Hello Troy... What's on the menu for your 1K?? Whatever you enjoy collecting..do what please's you and your ideas for collecting...may the metal be with you!! RickieB
We need a little more info to help you out Troy. Does any particular denomination interest you more than another ? Is there a time period that interest you more than another ? Do you only want to collect US coins or does world coinage hold any appeal for you ? Do you prefer copper, silver or gold coins ? There are plenty more questions that could be asked and answered before trying to provide you with an answer to your initial question. But that will do for a start
I would spend $200 on books, and buy two $400 coins. Can you explain in a bit more detail about your statement: collect only the key dates and rarer coins For instance, since you already have a Feuchtwanger, do you want to collect key dates of other tokens, or are all US coins fair game? Do you want to collect by "type", i.e. a single example of each "type" of coins, or would you rather collect by "date", i.e. all "dates" of a single "type" of coin? Take care...Mike
Troy we need a little more information that what you have provided if we are to help assist you in your selections. If this is all you have, then go with what RickeyB suggested, and good luck.:thumb:
