I want to start one as my "very long term" numismatic goal. :)

Since your into ancient..you could instead do a Imperial set, that consist of 122 coins..15 of which will cost you $400 +:smile

A type set is ALWAYS a work in progress.
You'll fill holes, and some years from now you may be able to afford better. Then you do an upgrade.
    OR
You may find a particular coin so appealing that you may want to collect the whole issue.
That happened to me with Braided Hair half cents. I completed the date set, then got the book (okay, I know that's backwards). Now I'm considering expanding into the die varieties.

I think that type set collections are some of the most fun long term collections.
