Ok. So here it goes. I'm not working with a lot of $$ so i'm going to start off slower.

I have read a few threads and still am not sure about how this works with banks.

    1) So do or can banks order silver dollars?

    2) What about half dollars. Can and will they order me rolls of half dollars? and if so Should I be interested in this. Is it worth the time.

    3) Also, What advice can you offer me. any cool tricks or anything?

    This might help:

    1) So do or can banks order silver dollars? Not silver per se, but you might be able to order rolls of the presidential dollars, those are in ridiculous abundance. Actual pre-1936 large silver dollars...probably not out there but it never hurts to ask.

    2) What about half dollars. Can and will they order me rolls of half dollars? and if so Should I be interested in this. Is it worth the time. Half dollars are by far the best denomination to search to find silver, just ask the teller/branch manager if they can accommodate your order request and these generally come in $500 & $1000 boxes. There might be some banks that will charge you a fee for ordering these boxes, even if you're a customer of theirs. Some banks won't order these boxes, but the more people you ask, the better you will find the result you are looking for.

    3) Also, What advice can you offer me. any cool tricks or anything? There's no cool tricks, it takes patience. There's plenty of good stuff still out there. Have fun!

$1000 half dollar boxes? Never heard of those. I know the local B of A's get $500 dime boxes, but I didn't know anyone got double half dollar boxes.

Those boxes would weigh nearly 50 pounds. Tellers are getting them mixed up with small dollar coin boxes.

What is the second best denomination for silver hunting in your opinion.

According to my personal statistics, Ikes are the second best after halves in terms of silver coins per coin searched.

Highly unlikely. These have all been pulled out of circulation a long time ago. It's probably not reasonably possible to even get Ike dollars. However some banks do order rolls of "small size" dollars (SBAs, Sacagaweas, Native American, and presidential dollars). Not sure if there's much of interest to roll hunters in these but they're available. These typically come 25 to a roll, 10 rolls to a box.

Quite possibly. Half dollars typically come 20 to a roll ($10 face value) and 50 rolls to a box ($500 face value). Some banks may be willing to order some for you. Banks rarely have much on hand unless they're near a casino (casinos use halves for 50c slot machines, and for blackjack tables because they don't like making 50c tokens or chips). But some may very well be willing to order some for you. Worth looking for silver, errors, not issued for circulation, on rare ocassion foreign coins and tokens, etc. It can be worth it if the cashflow isn't too much of an issue for you, and if you can find a bank willing to buy them back or deposit them (don't want it to be the same bank you got them from or you'll just end up searching your own coins again lol...).

Thanks for the posts. I have another question. I found an ebay seller selling 1 pound of unresearched Wheat pennys. Also comes with a few 'gifts" nothing major but my main focus is on the unresearched pound of wheats. Do Yall thinks its worth $25?

Becareful on ebay. You can get wheat pennies for less by going to the bank and buying a case of pennies it will cost you $25. You may find wheat pennies in them. If you like return the rest to the bank, many bank have a free coin machine. Now these wheat pennies are free, or just cost you face value 0.01. Remeber you may also find error coins that you can the keep or sell yourself. Don't for get to save your copper pennies(pre 1982) as well if you like.
