So I've got 4 crisp 2013 $1 bills today.. they all 4 appear to have smeared ink on the bottom. Slightly misaligned on the front. And 2 of them have the same little numbers, 136 on the bottom right of the back of the bill. The serial numbers are in order. I'm new to looking out for paper money errors... can anyone help? Thanks.. also if anyone has a good reference site for bill errors, that would be awesome. Thanks
It's cool to get crisp new bills (uncirculated condition) however the ones in your photos appear to only be worth face value. There seems to be a slight misalignment on some of the notes, more notably with the seal, but not significant enough to garner interest from most/any error collectors I imagine. The only other thing that could make the notes more valuable than face is the print run size. If they are part of an extremely low print run then perhaps they may have some premium.
Very nice and all four bills are sequenced in order. Everything I see and everything you said is all normal and within specs. For four dollars I'd put them in a protective currency sleeve and keep them.
The ink “smudge” on the back is simply a transfer of wet ink from the bill under it as the sheets are stacked. No value added.
The "smeared ink" looks like a fingerprint from when someone handled the sheet of bills, so damage not printing error. The number 136 on the back of two bills is the back plate number, nothing special there either. Keep them if you like them, but I'd be spending them.
