I just received these in the mail today courtesy of a very generous forum member (I'm not sure if they want me to out them or not...). I mentioned hoping to own a coin from BCE some day and they messaged me with a generous offer. They came to me already ID'd but I am going to try and do it myself. I think this will be quite a challenge and I am looking forward to it! My son was amazed with them as well. At 7, he still has a hard time grasping just how old these coins are. To be honest, at 34, I am too! However, he knows that they are waaaaaaaaaaaaay older than his 1881 Indian Head Cent haha. Again, thank you to the forum member (if you don't mind being outed, I am more than happy to thank you publicly) and thank you to everyone here who was already been incredibly helpful an encouraging so far! Without further ado, here are the coins: #1 #2 #3 - I managed to ID this one I believe. Luckily I have a little bit of knowledge of Chinese and was able to get started down the right path. I don't think most people here will qualify this as "ancient" but it is about 1000 years older than anything I had before this lol. K'ai-Yuan T'ung-Pao 618-841 AD
Cool gift! The only one I have is the Tang coin...yours is nicer than mine! That sphinx is pretty neat also!
What does the reverse of yours look like? You have a different variety than what I have. Your "Yuan" has both sides of the 2nd stroke slanting upwards. Mine only has the left side.
Really cool. I've been gifted with a few coins by forum members as well. All in all, great folks on here!
