Nice portrait for an Alexandria Tet. Even worn like it is, it's nice @Mat Just an observation and question. It seems to me that Titus coins are harder to come by than either his father or his brother. Is this just my imagination?
Not your imagination. I think his short reign compared to Vespasian and Domitian has something to do with it.
Great TET of TITUS. You are really amassing a big set of Tets @Mat ! (Wow... just too many double-entendres in these words.) I gotta put out the Titus PIG... RI Titus 79-81 CE AR Denarius Sow piglets
You've been on quite an Alexandrian binge! How many do you have now? EGYPT, Alexandria. Titus regnal year 3, CE 80/1 billion tetradrachm, 25.5 mm, 12.34 gm Obv: AVTOKTITOVKAIΣOVEΣΠAΣIANOVΣEB; laureate bust right Rev: OMO NOIA; Homonoia seated left on throne, holding olive branch; LΓ in left field Ref: Emmett 233.3, R1; Milne 459
Neat pickup, Mat. Having the Homonoia legend on the reverse makes these an interesting departure from the majority of Alexandrian tets which never name the deity. I wonder why the exception was made.
@TIF , that is an AWESOME jugate bust! Well done... that must be of Titus' LONG lost twin TEETUS! That is a COOL coin! Here is a jugate... RR Cordius Rufus 46 BCE AR Den Jugate Dioscuri Venus scales S 440 Cr 463-1 (I have a Jugate of two bros also!)
