I am looking to subscribe to one of the weekly rags and have narrowed it down to Coin World or Numismatic News. I'd like to get your thoughts / opinions on each. Unfortunately, none of the news stands or bookstores around me carry either of them, so I'm not able to take a look to decide for myself...so, what do you all think?
I second the online subscription to Coin World. Best bang for your buck! Plus you don't have the paper sitting around piling up.
I have been a subscriber to Coin World since 1987. It is a very fine magazine. You will definitely get your money's worth at just under $50 per year.
How many pages are in the magazine usually? Is there alot of ads? When I was a kid I used to get Coin Age, man it had alot of ads.
Coin World/Coin Values does it for me. But after my subscription ends I'm going for the online edition only. While I really like to take my weekly rag to work I've got a huge stack of them sitting around. I often take a copy to any appoinment to leave for others to read (and take), I remove my address, of course. Bruce
I asked the same question in this thread : http://www.cointalk.com/t86169/ I went with NN hard copy, and CW online with the once-a-month "Special Edition" hard copy. I prefer the standard "magazine-style" of CW. Both have good content. But if I had to choose one, if the regular weekly CW looked as nice as the special editions, I'd go with CW. Joe
I like CW as well. With the subscription to the paper version you also get the computer version free. I prefer paper so I can read it wherever I go. Don't always have access to internet or a computer, especially at work. Can't go wrong either way you go. Guy~
I originally thought I could get the on-line version only, for $9.99 but that's for the on-line version of COIN VALUES only when you add it to the regular subscription of COIN WORLD. It's all worth it to me. Bruce
Numismatic News has fallen off quite a bit in the last 9 or 10 years IMO. Coin World is much richer in content and scope. I cannot imagine curling up with the "digital edition" and having a good read. I have the entire package but the magazine in hand is the best. Tales me away from the computer, TV and lets me "sink in" for a "good ole fashion read". That plus I give all my copies to young numismatics and that just adds to the overall value. Cannot imagine life as we know it without Coin World!!!
