Just mentioned in another thread about not finding star notes and here I had one that I did not know about. It is in Thomas Jefferson Coin and Currency set. Now I have to keep the set. :)

Thats A Scarcer Set Than The Others! Only About 50 - 75 Of Those Sets Had The Star Inadvertantly Used! Great Find, It May Be 5 Or So Years Before Thier Rarity Is Appreciated, But They Will Be!

So am I - I have been cleaning out all my modern stuff lately when I found some coin and currency sets. I decided I like the bill in the Franklin set, then decided to open this one and see if I liked the bill. SURPRISE - a star note. Definetely keeping this one also.

Where did you find that information? I googled the set to see what it was selling for - I did notice all of those sets for sell did not have the star note.

There were 1,280,000 notes printed from the Phillie Run.
The current value is ~ $15-20 USD in CHCU.

    Nice note keep it!!

this is actually a case where this star adds more than it's own premium to the set. since these were released I have bought and sold over 500 sets and i tracked the ones i was able to find on ebay with the coins "cracked out" for the scarce matte finish 5 cent coin. i have seen less than 2 dozen sets w/ stars. Having an idea how they were assembled at the treasury, odds are likely that a pack or partial pack of stars was just "next in line" for use in these sets & i doubt the treasury employees even noticed...... or cared that they were stars. i figure about 1 out of every 100 sets was a star, more likely...... less.

Great find Mark!!! If you don't want that nickel from the set, I'll be glad to take it off your hands :D - I'm sure you picked up the set for the Star and silver dollar after all... lol - Congrats on the bonus!
