There is no scoop - at least not yet. What there is is talk about a new reverse design in 2009 as a way to commemorate the bicentennial. It is also being discussed to have a series of new reverse designs for the cent. At the present - these are just ideas being discussed. There is no set plan.
The U.S. Mint had a superb opportunity to make a very cool set of coins back in the late 80's concerning their 200th aniversary.I envisioned the Mint reissuing the designs used on early U.S.coinage with the double date, similar to Canada's 1998 aniversary set with duo dates.I wouls love to get a set of 'Flowing Hair Liberty' coins! Alas, the Mint was sleeping and missed this great chance.Maybe in another hundred years...can't wait! ~ Jim
I would like to see theme coins minted and changed every ten years or so to keep production cost effective and keep the hobby interest high. I think the Jeffersons will change before the cents.
I agree, and I think it's pretty close to being a sure thing,if not law already. I think the circulating commemoratives are a super idea. Canada has been doing this for years now, very successfully. It's about time the U.S. Mint dioes something for the collector's out there! ~ Jim
