Yesterday my silver set of DC and Territorial Quarters came in the mail. I now have the clad proof, silver proof, and P&D DC. I really think they are quite beautiful, afforable, and very unique in the history of American coinage. I also like the one year run thing and the fact they are still unknown to many novice collectors (referring to primarily people that only collected the state quarters), and with all the hype of the Lincolns this year they appear to be overlooked by many others.

State quarters are nice - the most fun I have had with them was doing a cheap harris album of them. Now the proofs I do like, especially the silver proofs. I am not sure they are overlooked - so many non-collectors I know are doing sets of them. And I do not mean just folders, but actually buying from the mint.

I only get the business strikes.
And I buy them UNC at coin shows.
So naturally I'm paying WAY over face for them.
The P&D DC quarters cost me 50 cents each.

Puerto Rico may even cost me more with the lower mintage.
    I'll quit after the territories.
I'll do the National Parks from circulation and through trades.

I too will quit the new issue quarters after this year. I don't intend to imply these will ever be rare, just very unique and beautiful. And they have certaily been over shadowed by the Llincolns. If I understand it correctly the '09 Proof Set and Silver Proof Set will be the only place to obtain from the mint the '09 Lincoln Cents in the real copper. If this is true the mintages on these sets will probably be high and these quarters will be included in those sets. Well, I guess 50,000 sets of the copper lincolns will be in the special set with the silver proof. For rarity there are so many people that hoard rolls today I don't think I will ever see any modern circulation coin become rare. I'm not knoocking people for doing it, just stating a fact as I see it. Unless of course your watching coin sales on TV, then somehow or someway they are all rare or limited editions.
