I just received three $25.00 bags of the new Ozark ATB quarters, one from each Mint. Going through the 2017Ps, I discovered three that had a die crack just to the left of the left side of the building above the tree line (see photo). Two coins later I found a rather large die chip in the same area. (see photo). In total, I found three quarters with the die crack and 14 with the large die chip. Something to look for.
@Roseland3 Since die cracks are so common, it is possible that more than one die had a crack or chip form in this same area. If you want to prove that the coins came from a continued deterioration of the same die, and are as such, different die states, then you should look for a marker of some kind that would link all of them to the same die. Chris
Chris You are right. The three quarters that showed the die crack show the progression of the crack from just a slight line to a the crack you see in the photo. I would imagine the bin that my bag was filled from has the rest of the crack progression. Maybe they will be in circulation some where back east soon. I live in California, so we do not see that many P mint marked coins for some time.
Yes. I found 3 Aruban 50c coins from 2009. 3 have cuds. 1 has only one. 2 have 2 cuds and one the two are larger. Unrelated but interesting I know they all come from the same die. Also to look for. On new Union Shield cents from 2010-date, on the top of the shield on the left side there are tonnsssss of die cracks commonly there. Not worth much but some doubled dies have that die marker.
