I am a regular at a local Half Price Books. I am generally shopping scifi but always check the coin book section. Almost never see anything but always look anyways. Today a new-old (1979 2nd printing) book was waiting for me on the shelf. It's in decent condition with very tight binding, some rub marks on the cover and a small amount of yellowing (to be expected for a book of its age). Its a really cool book with some great illustrations and history. Even has some bank note information in it. Great new addition to my small coin/currency book collection. Worth checking out if you see it available! BR Darryl
I just got a copy and read it a few months ago. Tbh, i didn't like it as much as i thought i would. I was hoping it would be more like Frank Robinson's book confessions of a numismatic fanatic. Maybe i truly have moved on from us numismatics, idk. I actually enjoyed his intro to the colonial coinage book more.
Yes, and its somewhat scarcer than the first book. He also has "Numismatic bedtime companion" series, etc. He is probably the most prolific numismatic author in history.
Pretty similar to this book. Like I mentioned earlier, I love his introduction to the Colonial Coinage book he wrote for Whitman. Its worth a read if you have a chance. It goes over his involvement in the beginnings of the CCC.
He also did The Numismatist's Fireside Companion. Years ago, I had to have about everything he wrote. Fun stuff.
