Here's my newest NJ obsolete note I picked up in Baltimore on Friday. I haven't added to my collection in a few months, so when I saw this at Alan Teal's table I had to get it.

The Lambertville Bank was incorporated in 1857 and in 1865 became the Lambertville National Bank. It's signed by G.B. Cope from New Hope, PA. Although not listed by either Haxby or Wait, many other denominations are. They range from $1 to $100, so if you want to collect the whole series you have a lot of work to do. Wait does list a 10 cent note from this bank (1046) but it features a different vignette than mine. I did find one like mine that was auctioned by Stacks/Bowers this past January...about the same condition. They got $316 for it, so the $175 I paid for mine is pretty good I think. They rate this note as a high R-6 or low R-7, so there's probably only 5 or 6 known. Overall a nice addition to my collection. Thanks for looking.

I forgot to ask, but what grade would you give this note? I'm still learning to grade, so I'd like to hear your opinions. Thanks.

It seems to be in nice shape for its age with four sharp corners. Any chance you can get some close up pics of the note?

That's a good and rare note. Can't say that I have it in my collection but have seen it recently at a Houston coin show. The price looks about right,

Grade would most likely fall into VF. A few issues prevent it from reaching XF state, but overall a nice note and congrats on the new addition to the collection.

Thanks for your opinion on the grade Doctor. I was thinking F/VF, but wanted the opinion of someone more knowledgeable than I. Did you get to the show?

No, unfortunately I haven't had the time to visit the bank lately, let alone any shows. Have no idea why, but I've been swamped at work and home life for the past few months. *sigh* Maybe one day I can get back to the collecting level I was at. Still nice addition Bruce!

Yeah, sometimes life just "takes over" and moves you in different directions Doctor. I've certainly had my ups and downs with my collection over the years, but its been mostly positive. BTW, I'll probably be moving out your way later in the year. About ten years ago I lived in Wellsville, York Co. I have a sister-in-law who lives on Fishing Creek just a few miles north of H'burg. If I do, we'll have to get together and go to a few local shows.

Sounds good to me! Fishing Creek isn't that far away and I've been there before. Let me know when/if that happens and we'll hit up all the local shows.
