Logged in at 11:56, bought 3 sets, paid for it, and logged out at 11:57. Fastest transaction I ever made.. plus have my fingers crossed for some nice first strikes..
I tried signing on at 12 o’clock and was not able to connect until 12:10. When I did get to the site it was very slooooow. It took me ten minutes to place my order for three sets. I am sure the site was overloaded with collectors like myself trying to make a buy. I often wondered how dealers like Littleton place their order. Do they have an “in“ to place large orders or do they wait in line like us poor folks?
Order mine at 12:25 go thru really fast using quick checkout. It did say they were on backorder, but on the invoce say backordered but ship date is the 13th so we shall see what happens
not a good investment this design of jefferson nickels will stay for at least another 50 years. it will be too many. 2004 and 2005 jefferson nickels will be the winner. and the mintage were not high. it is almost equal to regular issue on each year basis.
well I got them cause I love nickels. You can ask my wife, if I thought of these as an investment.. I would have been put in the home years ago
Thanks for reminding me, I was going to get these first thing but forgot until I read your post at 2:45 (They say the mind is the second thing to go forgot what the first is) order went alot quicker than with the Bisons. The mint photo of the actual coin looks a lot different than the drawing they been touting. Hope the actual coin in hand looks better than the mint photo! What did you think?
Logged in at 11:55 am, placed my order for two sets at noon sharp, logged off promptly at 12:05. No muss, no fuss, a very easy and fast event for me. My order also said backordered, but expected to ship on Jan 13th. Egads, Friday the 13th!!!! Photo of the actual nickel certainly looks better than the vampire-looking drawing from earlier. Think I might like this coin, redesigned Monticello and all!!
I understand the mint just released the nickels to all the federal banks. By this time next week I will be able to walk into any of the local banks and buy as many of these coins as I can carry out of the place. Would someone like to tell me why I shoud pay premium for a coin that will be in circulation for the next 100 years, or a certain politician get put out of office and we have another change.
I can't think of any reason. I see no reason to pay more than $2 for a roll just because it has a mint logo on it. Very soon you will easily be able to get as many as you want for 5 cents each... and this design will be in place indefinitely, not just for one year.
Well that might possibly be true, but being west of the Mississippi your only going to have access to the "D" mints. On the other hand, it took absolute months before I ever received in change circulation strike Westward Journey nickels, and even those I could count on two hands. Of course none of this makes any sense still, I'll just say because the new nickels are out, I collect nickels, my wife didn't say I couldn't, and next week, I can give everyone at work a nice pretty BU set. Maybe the biggest reason is, it's something that I can have for $8.95 next week, that some knuckle-headed coin connisseur with an unlimited bankroll can't have better than me .
new nickel what about 2004 peace medal?. it's a lot that u.s.mint produced. but one of the mint mark P or D now selling at $23.95 per roll. it's only $2.00 a roll right?. and what about marine corp. mint produced some 500,000 pcs. it's a lot too. and it's so recent. now marine corp selling at $89.95. 2006 jefferson nickel on its first year issue. i predicted it will be over $20.00 a set of 2 roll. of course with u.s. mint logo on its wrapper. and remember 1999 silver proof set and proof set. how much it cost?. soon 2006 jefferson 2 roll set will be sold out too.
I just plain enjoy getting something new from the U.S. Mint and for only a paltry $8.95 (plus postage, I know!). The thrill of something brand new, the thrill of getting something directly from the United States Mint, and the thrill of possibly being the first in the neighborhood to have a new item are all enjoyable feelings for me. True, I won't get rich, I might even lose money on these new nickels, but it makes me happy. I have seen people spend huge amounts of money at a Wal-Mart for unnecessary things and not be nearly as thrilled as what these new nickels, purchased directly from the Mint, will do for so many collectors. And if I do make something from these new nickels down the line, so much the better! Everyone enjoy your hobby!!
Well mine said shipping date 1/13 when I ordered I checked order status this AM now says expected to ship 1/28!
My nickel order of noontime yesterday was immediately BO'd until 1/27. This morning (Friday the 13th), the BO'd date has changed to 1/28. Just on par for the mint. I guess things will never change. Jim
