    Hi all,
Was looking for Mint Error coins for sale on Amazon and this caught my attention.. This is the first I have seen this type of NGC Slab.
    Anyone else seen it?
    (Not my coin)

When NGC first introduced their "Edge View" holder, I recall a discussion that arose on one of the Collectors Society forums because one of the prongs almost completely hid a small cud that was on the rim. NGC acknowledged this, but explained that the Edge View holder only came in one configuration which could not be altered. (Note that the central material used to hold the penny in this slab is like the material that NGC uses in some of their oversized slabs.) Looking at your slab, paddy, if the Edge View holder had been used, the prong at approximately 4 o'clock would not even touch the coin. I'm guessing that NGC thought this would look better than the Edge View holder.

Yes, very common for high relief coins. Seen them years ago.

What holds the coin in place? Are they custom fit to each denomination?

The central opening is like a bezel with a very small lip, and like the typical 2x2, they come in various sizes.

I first saw these several years ago used with California fractionals, of course not with this label and hologram.
