Boy am i excited about this one!! Just got a knock at the door And it was the mail man with an Express delivery  He was delivering to me one of the rarest Mpc,s the Series 471 $5 Issued: 3/10/47 Withdrawn: 3/22/48 This note is seldom seen in any condition let alone a nice grade Like this!! Enjoy!!
That's the nicest one I've seen! BTW what's the symbol on the face on the bottom right just past the "$5" that looks like a tree?
After further examination it appears to be a "Saints" Icon or Symbol like for on the New Orleans Saints football team, You Will find this icon on the $1 and $10 as well along with the Series 461 $1, $5 and $10 also, Not sure if its some sort Of anti counterfeiting label or just part of the design, Its Cool though, I will do some further research if someone else Doesnt have the answer:high5:
Just one of many, I really wasent working on this set but when I was presented with the opportunity i just couldnt pass it up For this note they just dont come by to often, There are only 6 graded finer and 13 over all, And the highest grade is only a 55, That should tell you just how rare this note is:rolling:
". . . BTW what's the symbol on the face on the bottom right just past the "$5" that looks like a tree? . . ." It's known as a Fleur-de-lis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fleur-de-lis
Its a cool symbol, A very distinctive mark, Iam trying to research To see if its some sort of counterfeit measure:high5:
It's not that only 13 are known but that it only has 13 in the PCGS Population report. So PCSG graded only 13 so far. PMG also grades some I'm sure and there are raw ones out there too. Not that I'm trying to take away from this note at all because it is a rare note for sure. Green sheet shows that note for over $400 in a warn out old rag (any condition).
Nice Old MPC ,great looking rare addition to your fabulous growing collector. Thanks for sharing with us.
Yes i wanted to clarify that as well, Most notes in both PCGS and PMG Have a fairly healthy number, But this particular one does not only 13 in PCGS and only 3 total in PMG !! And with only 1 uncirculated note In the whole bunch!! I would call that "Very Rare" And why is that? Simple this note had a very low printing to begin With only about 5 million were printed sounds like a high number But its extremely low in the Mpc world for a circulated series such As this one you can take my word on that:secret:
Well yea think about 5 million notes being given to soldiers over seas... I can see them being spent fast and the survival rates on paper during a conflict have to be low too.
