Received the letter from Leroy Van Allen over the weekend. Made a new 1888-O Morgan dollar variety discovery. It's been labeled VAM 1F. It has a partial clashed 'st' on the obverse from 'trust' on the reverse.
Wow! Old Leroy certainly has better eyes than me, because even with the enlarged pics I can't see anything there out of the ordinary. Am I looking in the wrong place, or what? Guy~
Leroy won't assign a new VAM designation for regular clashing; however, if a letter was transfered when the two dies clashed, he will. The "hairvee" area shows two clash marks from 'st' in 'trust'. I've added a picture with lines. If you look at the clash guide on the bottom of the VAMworld clash die page you will get a better idea of where the letters appear.
Now I see it. The previous pic was too light and hard to make out just where to look. Thanks for the clarification. Guy~
