Funny- the only ones I have seen in circulation was on a trip to Arizona near the Ca border. Never seen a single one since.
Hmm, interesting. I'm gonna go fill up on gas, anyone want some snacks? lol I got one just recently too... except it was in the mail. a member of the PCGS forums was giving them out
D-mints I assume? I guess I haven't been following the real modern Lincolns closely (despite the firm name), anybody else think the new cents look like a caricature of the original? I bet ol' Victor D Brenner, aka Viktoras Barnauskas, would be rolling in his grave if he saw them. George ================ VDB Coins
Even the Rim areas look bad. Obverse or Reverse seem to be affect one or both edges. They detract from the look. Maybe the company setting them up is messing them up?
My bank inquired about getting the new Lincoln Cent, and they were told that none were going to be shipped to Oklahoma unless the bank paid the price to purchase them, and when he asked why, they told him that Oklahoma had an abundance of cents, therefore none would be shipped to the banks here. I took 25 from the first roll that I opened and distributed them around town when I paid for things over the last 2 weeks. At least a few will be seen around OKC.
I've still not seen one in circulation yet, that includes nickels and dimes as well, usually by May I've seen em all.
I'm in Disneyland in California (Los Angeles/Anaheim), and yesterday I was buying some burgers from Croc's Tids & Bits, and received 4 log cabins and 2 beautiful 1999 statehood quarters for my type set in the change. Ah, it's true what they say, Disneyland IS the happiest place on Earth! -LTB
If the mint can cancel 2009 nickels and dimes due to lack of Federal Reserve orders, can they cancel or drastically reduce the number of the last 3 Lincoln 2009 cents orders? I haven't read the act as to what number, if any, is mandated. Jim
It's not just the Lincoln cent, either. The Mint has to fiddle with things that require no "fiddlation." The classic Liberty on the Saint-Gaudens twenty translated onto the Gold American Eagles as a figure that looks like a cross between Barbie and Goldie Hawn. And why, oh why did they remove the reverse of the Walking Liberty half for that staid horror on the reverse of the Silver American Eagle! Don't get me started. Wait, too late. Sounds like everyone need to stock up on boxes of Cents so they will have to order them in. When they get them, then flood the market back with them. :high5::high5::high5:
I haven't seen any 2009 coins around here. For that matter I rarely see a 2008 coin. I got a 2008D cent from change but no P cent. I purchased a coin from a local coin dealer at the last local coin club show and he gave me 2 Native American Dollars as my change. Now that was cool. He now has a new local buyer who'll drop by his store to check out his stuff. Bruce
