If anybody jumping on this?! Of course! Overpriced novelty items, souvenirs and mint gimmicks is what numismatics all about!

You know, though, the more collectors I hear saying "who in the world would want one of those", the more I start wondering about a sleeper in the making.

For this specific issue, though, between the 60+K first-day sales and the popular media coverage, I really doubt it's going to end up being any kind of rarity.

First, I think the set that went on sale Thursday was not the "new" design, right?

Second, I think that article's author was confused. It talks about the hair being modified to be more accented at the First Lady's request, when I believe it was just the opposite.

Yes, not the current design, but from the following statement, it sounds like it's the 1964 circulation design, not the accent hair design. Jecqueline's suggestions modified the accented hair variety used on a few 1964 proofs.

"Now the U.S. Mint is producing collectors' coins that restore the original 1964 design, which incorporated suggestions from a grieving Jacqueline Kennedy."
