I believe the new sale catalog went up yesterday. The link to the ancient coin section, including 314 coins, is https://www.hjbltd.com/#!/inventory/buy-or-bid/ . There seem to be a lot of interesting coins. I've bought one coin so far, but won't say what it is until it arrives, except that it's a Roman Imperial coin that caught my eye because someone posted the same type here recently, and I really liked it. Which happens often! I must say that I was a little disappointed that there are only 15 coins in the Republican section (not counting all the Imperatorials with Caesar and Brutus and Antony, etc., which are way too expensive for me). Aside from the 6 that I already have, none of them really appealed to me. Next time, perhaps!

Has anyone else taken a look yet? I wonder what the usual ratio is between the ones that sell at the "buy" price, and the ones that people actually bid less for.

There will usually be a handful of coins which sell in minutes and then others that will eventually sell for 10-20% less than the "buy" ask. I don't love their photography but their in-hand videos are superb and they're an easy and trustworthy firm.

I've had a couple coins regrettably slip through my fingers when I didn't click "Check out" fast enough. I will take some solace in the fact that one coin was purchased by a speedier collector who paid with bitcoin that would now be worth over $10 million.

I tried again and again to access the buy or bid sale and view the coins. Their site doesn't work. This seems to be an ongoing problem every time they launch a buy or bid sale their site simply won't load.

I always have issues with their site. I thought about picking up the Leontinoi Tet but hesitated a little too long and it was sold. I would have bought it, had there been at least some provenance listed. Thats the only thing that held me back. It looked like a nice coin though.

I bought a greek stater yesterday as soon as it was posted but I asked Aaron to hold the shipping of it till after new years. I am not taking a chance on it getting lost with all the extreme holiday shipping that shipping companies are drowning in.

Lost a nice dream coin Sept. Severus Tetradrachm now a month "in transit". I'm pretty pis*ed.

Snagged one pretty much when the auction opened. More have caught my eye but waiting to see if I get any Xmas gift cards first :hilarious: I was refreshing my browser the entire day, always so worried about losing out to someone faster. I’ll follow suit with Donna and hold off on saying which one, but after a relatively extensive search on CT I’ve only seen 2 posted before so I’m pretty giddy! :shame:

I wonder if he/she still has the coin. I would never be able to look at that coin and not be sooooo mad haha
