Hey There! New To Collecting-only Been At It For A Year Or So.i Own A Gas Station So I Get To Look At A Lot Of Coins That Come Through Here.just Got A New Hampshire Quarter That Has No Mint Mark.is This Unusual???looked At It Prettyclose And Don`t See Where Anyone Has Messed With It.
I had one of those also----I think that this state is the one that has the most problem with Grease Filled die error in that area... I think I sold mine for a few dollars. So I would put the value at maybe $1-$5. Speedy
It's a little bit unusual. They are intended to have mintmarks. Modern, high-speed production has generated a lot of minor abnormalities, such as missing design elements. A lot of imperfections escape detection, by quality control inspectors, and wind up in commerce. Sound's like a nice find. I wouldn't consider it valuable, but not something you see every day, either.
thats sorta weird. never thought of state quarters not having mintmarks! i might have to look through mine now.:kewl:
Well they still have the mintmark---its just filled with grease. This can, and more than likely does happen on every State, but from what I have read NH is the one that they had the most problem with. Speedy
I agree with Speedy on this! There were a lot of NH Quarters that came out of the Philly Mint that had weak strikes due to being struck through grease and/or they had Die Deterioration Doubling. Frank
