New Guy Needs Help 1847 cc

    Ok been a long time and i have wanted to collect coins i have about 20 or so most late 1700 and 1800 got them at garage sales and have found some on job sites. i have a 1847 cc it is 35 grams if my cheap scale is right??? is this correct? it has general ware.

    1847 the Carson City mint didn't exist yet

    thats what i have found out so this one is a fake?

    ha i do have a 1873 trade dollarhow would i tell on this guy? also a 1874 cc

    Weigh it. and the ever popular ring test. drop it very gently on a wood surface and listen for the "ring" the coin makes if it rings it might be silver, if it thuds its a fake

    If it sticks to a magnet it is fake. (That does not mean that if it does not stick to a magnet is is genuine.)

    The odds are the 1874-CC is fake also. Where did you get these coins?
