New German 2 Euro Commemorative in 2007 Germany started a program, every year will be issued one 'Bundesland' (=state) on a two euro coin. Germany has got 16 states, that means the whole project will take 16 long years. The second issue of these commemoratives will be issued in february 2007. The design will be the following one. And the mintage will be very high, something other wouldn't be very typical for German commemoratives. Greetings from Germany Marvin
I'm glad the US decided to do 5 states a year because if they did it like Germany,I'd never live to see Hawaii, not to mention Guam,Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands...
Yes, but Germany only can issue one 2 Euro commemorative each year, it's a law by the european union or something like that, I'm sure they would do the same like the USA. Here's the 2006 issue.. State : Schleswig-Holstein Date of issue 3rd February 2006 Mintage : A (Berlin) - 3.000.000 D (Munich) - 3.150.000 F (Stuttgart) - 3.600.000 G (Karlsruhe) - 2.100.000 J (Hamburg) - 3.150.000 Regards Marvin
Sry, theres a mistake, it doesn't mean 'New German 1 Euro Commemorative in 2007' it should mean 'New German 2 Euro Commemorative in 2007'
Let's see ... with four Presidential Dollars per year, that series will go on until 2016. And the "German States" series will end in 2021. Not that much of a difference. Besides, keep in mind that the German €2 commems are just part of a whole bunch of commemorative €2 coins issued every year. After all, an Austrian, Italian, etc. commem does (or at least could ...) circulate in Germany too. So all in all, and not counting the three non-EU euro countries, we had four different €2 commemorative issues in 2004, six in 2005, and five this year. Next year there will be a series of "Treaty of Rome" €2 issues (one per euro country), plus the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern coins (from DE), plus those that other euro countries will issue. Sounds like quite a lot to me. Christian
