I think it would be a good idea to put up section for "ebay auctions" that we discuss. Not for advertising, but specifically for misleading or rip-off auctions. Thoughts?
Why fix something that isn't broke? We haven't had any problems about bad mouthing lots of EBay auctions in Coin Chat as well as the more focused US and World forums.
True, it may draw unwanted attention. I just thought it wold be good to have a place where all of them are centrally located.
I think it's a good idea to have a central location for misleading e-Bay auctions, but my concern is that it would degenerate into a big axe-grinding session.
I myself would think the main problem is advertising something that should not be advertised. The reason I say this is advertising people know full well the worse a commercial is sometimes, it works as well as a great one. People will remember a horrible add but tend to forget normal ones. This means if we here had a forum for ebay or internet dealers that rip people off or are not on the up and up, many would forget where they saw the mentionng but remember the name. Bad advertising is as effetive as good sometimes.
Great idea. I have to admit that if I log in and I see a whole lot of ebay posts I usually just take a quick look around and log back out, instead of trying to sort thru them. I always liked this forum and come here to catch up on all the latest news or discoveries not to check out ebay listings either good or bad. I go to ebay for that. I was actully going to post this same question a few weeks ago but couldn't find my password so I let it go. If someone knows how to post a poll maybe we can let the members make the choice.
I hate to tell you this friend, but Coin Talk is a benevolent dictatorship, not a democracy. The site owner decides what sub forums do and do not exist - not those of us who benefit from his generous provision of this forum. BTW, I like it that way!
I know that the site owner does consider things that the members request, and particularly if a lot of the members want it. I also know the site owner is considering a reconfiguration of the forum structure.
I for one would appreciate it if the "owner" wouldn't change the structure too much. I believe it to be the best organized and set up forum I'v been to. I also believe an ebay/ auction section would be nice. Thanks for a great site Peter.:thumb:
Yep, every time I change things I do run the risk of overly annoying people who don't want it to change. Hopefully, whatever changes I make will make the site easier to use.
