Still a little hard to tell. I can't find any varieties of the 35-D Buffalo. Other than a repunched mintmark. Looks like it could die erosion. That would be the best I could offer without viewing the coin firsthand.

Die erosion is common. This is particularly true with nickel coins. Nickel is a very hard metal to strike, and die cracks and erosion develop quickly. It does not add to the value. Let me add this: Most of the time, die erosion does not add value. On occasion coins exhibiting lots of erosion have been known to bring a little extra money.
