Howdy fellow coin peeps, :thumb: In my travels through Ebayland, I notice the rules change depending on where you are. Like, for instance, it seems to be ok to list counterfeit coins in Europe but in the US we get in all kinds of trouble, even if we list them as fakes and in Europe, they're listed as real coins and nothing seems to be done about it. Getting back to the issue of this post, recently Ebay has changed the rules on listing coins with certifications, in that, only certain coin grading companies are officially recognized by Ebay and if they aren't on the list, you're limited on what you can say about the certification. Now what I'm wondering is, does that rule apply to Europe and the UK? http://search.ebay.ie/_W0QQsassZmajor-coins I doubt the above seller needs any introduction in this forum. I can only imagine the many posts concerning his self-graded coins but if the rules apply in the UK, he's in full violation of them and someone should have a talk with the boy. :goof: Ribbit Ps: I love the way the link to his store ended up! I think it's ironic - "assZmajor-coins"
The rules apply ONLY to coins listed in the USA. Don't ask why. I have not the foggiest. The side light that confuses me even more is that it does not apply to live auctions - USA of not. Look at universallive (eBay seller). He sells coins listed as SGS from his featured seller - ABCOM. All listed as such in the listing.
So I can move to BFE and as long as I post to the US, I can list anything I want that would otherwise be against the rules in US Ebay? I believe that's discrimination (in a round-about-way). It sounds to me like Anti-Trust Laws have been violated by Ebay (showing favortism to certain U.S. based grading companies) and allowing the others to be listed anywhere else. Ebay is about to get into some serious trouble, that is, unless they adopt the rules everywhere. Ribbit Ps: Here's one of the violators you spoke about: http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/1922-26-P-GRADED-SLABBED-MS66-SILVER-PEACE-DOLLAR-SET_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ52618QQihZ018QQitemZ280225096810QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW And here's a few other violators: http://cgi.ebay.com/1927-D-PEACE-DOLLAR-ACG-GRADED-MS-60_W0QQitemZ140236475939QQihZ004QQcategoryZ11980QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/1880-Morgan-Dollar-ENI-Graded-Brilliant-Uncirculated_W0QQitemZ160243091501QQihZ006QQcategoryZ39465QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/1986-S-SGS-PR70CAM-GRADED-LIBERTY-HALF-COMMEM-DOLLAR_W0QQitemZ220239886918QQihZ012QQcategoryZ41107QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/1982-d-kennedy-half-dollar-SGS-MS70_W0QQitemZ180247393777QQihZ008QQcategoryZ41104QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/2008-D-Pres-James-Monroe-SGS-MS70_W0QQitemZ350064394639QQihZ022QQcategoryZ159714QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Looks like the rules are working!
The only other Ebay I can list to is the UK. I think that sucks since I've noticed silver & gold coins (along with a few others) are going higher in Europe. I ship worldwide but if I can't list in any of the countries I will ship to, what good does it do unless they log onto Ebay US. I'm thinking of putting a blurb into my auctions about not shipping to anywhere but the UK and US, since Ebay won't let me list to any other Ebay but those two. Ribbit
Try what this guy did http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270239550430&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26satitle%3D270239550430%26fvi%3D1 So far as I can tell, he lives in Miami and it is listed in the US, but he has it listed in euros. Yet, for some reason, eBay will not pull it.
Toad, Take a look at your links now. Most of them have "been removed or are no longer available". Good luck with your live auction.
Because they were reported. So far as I can figure, eBay does ZERO policing. They only react to reported violations.
You took me serious? I was being funny! It doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to figure out why. Ribbit
