Done. No way to select "Counterfeit item listed". eBay sucks, they really do.

It's really too bad eBay doesn't seem to care about this problem. They are aware of it. I've flagged counterfeit coins before with no response. People could sell their souls on eBay, as long as eBay gets their cut. It may get to the point when we must buy only certified key date coins. I hope they at least have a hard time sleeping at night!!!

    Wow, all gone already.

    Perhaps eBay is waking up?

Nah, just someone paid attention, probably bored and had nothing better to do.

E-Bay is not a coin company. They are not a sales company.

    They are a technology company.

Their view of the vast majority of the listings is "it's just one more record in a database". It's not merchandise to them. It's just a few more kilobytes on a hard disc somewhere.

That said, they have to enforce some rules in order to make their techno-room inhabitable, so that buyers feel comfortable and safe.

It's not reasonable to expect them to police all their listings. They vet some of them, caveat emptor vets most of the bad ones, and people like CT help vet the rest.

Overall, I think the system is working fairly well.

As long as we keep up the good work with threads like this one, and CT people keep responding, E-Bay will keep responding.

They got rid of this clunker listing fairly quickly, I think. Kudos to all, including E-Bay. :thumb:

Don't be so cynical. These have been reported and removed already.

    Reporting DOES work!

If they view themselves as a Tech company, they are a very poor one. They view themselves as an auction company, which they are and which it said in their initial offering.

You may feel this is the best way to make a report but in a phone call to ebay, I was told that this is a general report site that does not always get immediate attention.

The best reporting method, according to ebay, is the way that gets almost immediate review and action.

At the bottom of the listing page is a link to Report This Item. Under Reason For Report, select Prohibited Item. Under Detailed Reason select Currency, Coins, etc. Under Additional Information select Fraudulently or Improperly Described.

On the next page you can enter the reason for your report of that specific item.

Your link provides up to 1000 characters to describe what your concern is. This is one reason why this doesn't always get immediate action over the other reason which only allows 100 characters for your comment. What would you rather read - 200 words of blather, or 20 concise words of explanation?

Believe me, I've used the listing page link and it works. I kind of feel that those here who complain that reporting doesn't work have been using other contact methods.

Of course you could always double your chances and use both methods. Or take the bull by the horns and do the direct method and use the 24/7 live customer support chat http://pages.ebay.com/help/contact_us/ChatCategorization.html or by phone direct (regular business hours, Pacific time):

    Toll Free USA & Canada: 1-888-749-3229 / 1-800-322-3229 / 1-800-322-9266

Not toll free Direct Number: 1-408-376-7400

    US PayPal phone number: 1-888-221-1161

Thanks David , I was going by what I was told , I figured with more words you could better describe the problem , but when reporting an Item I do use both links and keep doing so till it is pulled , we learn from each other and have learned something new again .
