I was just wondering if coins in a new series just released would have any numismatic premiums, say just months after it first circulates. Would its premiums only catch up a few years later, or until there is a Krause catalog value for them?
haha nothing more than non-precious circulation coins from Singapore. hoarded a few hundred of them, don't intend to send them into the rollercoaster ride that is circulation, and just looking to sell them some time in the future. as a general rule though, is it better to sell as soon as they come out UNC and lustrous, wait a few years or keep them for a few decades or maybe centuries?
Tough call. Seems more like investing in 'futures' which I've neither the money nor the stomach to do, I'm more collector oriented, but every once in a while (great while) I stumble upon a winner. That said, I'm most always reluctant to sell.......unless I've got multiples..........
I can't see any modern circulation coin, regardless of the origin country ever being worth much of a premium over face value because they are produced in such high quantities. However, every issue will likely contain condition rarities that could fetch a pretty penny. See how I did that
@green18 do you by any chance have an interest in german coins? I've got a few which I only want one of and could use the proceeds for collecting other coins. @Kirkuleez that's true. our singapore mint produces so many millions of coins of each denomination i can't imagine how only one can pull that off. although I notice the swiss coins do quite ok, from my limited knowledge. a 1/2 franc Cu-Ni coin could fetch somewhere over 3 times its face value in MS60 if i'm not mistaken.
