New Coin for Me - 1882 Shield Nickel

    Shield nickels are not one of my interest areas.
    But when a nice one shows up and is affordable I'll try to get it.

    Here's one that caught my eye:
    5-1882-o-50.jpg 5-1882-r-50.jpg 5-1882-ox.jpg

    What caught my eye is what appears to be an RPD or an overdate.
    I'd like to see if that's what it is.

    And at the moment the "mess" at "IN GOD" I'm attributing to the die break in that area.

    Thats a pretty good size break. Goes from about 7 to 1.

    Nice. For some weird reason I have always loved these nickels disproportionately to other series. Even though I mainly only buy ancients and some world coins now, still buy a nice Shield if I get in the mood.
