Just got this from Nomos, and I couldn't be happier! I've been dying to get it in hand. This is my first auction win, and first coin of this type, but I think I did alright. I wanted a good portrait of Claudius, and this fits the bill. The reverse is better in hand, but I'm using the seller photos, since they are better than anything I could do.

I know someone else recently got a nice example of this type from Roma, but I wasn't able to find the post any more.

    Claudius.jpeg

Obverse: Bareheaded bust left, TI CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG P M TR P IMP P P
Reverse: Minerva, helmeted, advancing right, holding a shield with her left hand and brandishing a javelin with her right, S C in fields
    Struck at Rome 50-54 AD, 29mm, 10.94g, RIC 116

Both nice coins but that Ceres is a beautiful coin. Great detail.

A lovely coin. I think you were referring to my post of the same coin but yours is better. The post was in the "green and red patina" post. I also ended up with another two similar coins in much lower condition as I put in a lowball bid on a two coin group as I was determined to end the year with my Twelve Caesars and won those too. Sometimes things work too well...........

Alegandron, I think your LIBERTAS AVGVSTA is RIC 97 not RIC 100 ?

    Here's mine, its a $2 budget coin :)

Thank you! I appreciate the attribution. I mainly focus on the Republic, so I am not as in tune with these. :)

And WOW on your $2 VALUE! Super deal.

Lots of very nice and interesting examples here. These coins have a lot of variations, and the ‘branch mint’ examples are nice in their own right. And yes @Dafydd, that was the post I was looking for. I actually think your example is very nicely detailed in its own right, and certainly has a better reverse.

Super portrait! I'm still not sure if my Minerva example is an official mint product or not. Nice portrait but an unusual style, and the reverse is fairly crude, so I'm leaning towards unofficial:

But my newest Claudius (Constantiae rev.) is definitely official, like yours:
