Just before I head off to another show, I thought I'd share a few of my new Lincoln cents that Todd (www.Blueccphotos.com) just finished photographing for me. Though a couple have some flaws, this is a pretty colorful group, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! :smile
Dearn!! I wish I had the access to coins like these that you have. Do you go to these shows to buy coins or to sell?
Mike, absolutely! (Check out the bottom of this page on my website http://thepennylady.com/coinphotogallery.html). And RLM, I usually do a lot of both buying and selling at all the shows I attend, and once in a while I get lucky and find a coin or two for my personal collection. Sometimes it's a prettier version of one I already have, but I still need a few dates so I'm always on the hunt!
I'll be there in January but I don't usually travel with my personal coins unless I'm taking them to Todd to be photographed, so not many people have seen them in hand, except Todd of course! That's why I am really glad I found Todd so I am able to share them with all of you.
Here's what gets me... How in the world to you find all these?? Do you buy them raw and submit them? Or do you buy them already slabbed? If you're submitting them yourself how many come back BB'd? It certainly is a different aspect of the hobby you pursue and you must know your toning pretty dang well if hardly any come back body bagged.
Nice looking Lincolns Miss Charmy, also nice meeting you at the Baltimore Show, hope it went well for you. I filled a lot of my missing coins at the show. Got one nice Large Cent from you there! Take care and will be looking for Large Cents from you now.
ah ok, is that why I got to see those other ones at Long Beach? Also, on your calendar it doesn't say anything about AZ in Jan. It better not be the 28-30, because I'll be in Vegas!
Yep, I had several of them at that Long Beach show to give to Todd. And I do need to update my calendar - the Tucson show is January 15-16 (only Friday and Saturday, no Sunday this time) - so I'll see you there! And Snaz, Most of my personal collection used to be raw, then I bought a couple already slabbed, so then (being as anal as I am) I had to have them all slabbed - I didn't like having some raw and some slabbed. So I sent in several of the once I thought they would certify. A few came back not graded, so I would wait and send them in later, or send them to the other TPG. However, the TPG's are more strict right now with color, but I still get some of the prettier ones slabbed. I also buy a lot of them already in holders as I come across them.
Ooh again. I really like the first 09, the 11 and 42. That is the kind of fiery red I like to see poking through on IHC's. Very nice coins.
On second look, now that I am on a computer, and not my phone, I am incredibly surprised the 09 VDB graded as high as 65 with the chunk missing out of the left wheat.
Wow, that's about all I can say. Did I say Wow? Beautiful. I especially like how the color just jumps off that '09 VDB. Congrats.
Thanks folks for the kind oohs and awwws! And I could be wrong but I think that reverse dent on the wheat stalk might be a planchet flaw and not post-minting.
