I picked upa new camera today since the old one was beaten to death. It has a special marco lens that I'm hoping to test soon. Unfortunetely, I don't have many coins left to photograph. Maybe someone wants to send me some :)

    (Just kidding)

you going to go into a little more detail about it. Like type of lens and what type of camera you got?

What you said reminds of someone saying I got this cool coin..and left it at that lol.

I have an assortment of Lincoln cents enveloped in fuzzy greenish-blue fur. I wonder what that stuff looks like close up!

But then, a good camera will make anything sparkle!

It would probably look like fuzzy, greenish-blue fur.

Well, I'm not in love with this camera. My Sony Cybershot was better. It did, however, take this shot which is why I brought the camera.

You still have not told us what it is and the lens you are using. Would also like to know price range because I am looking for a good camera

Its a Nikon Coolpix 220. I'm not in love with the camera at all. I think I'm going to find another Sony Cybershot. But it does do good closeups for variety picks.

My Canon is okay, but my next camera will be the digital Nikon D5000 DSLR.

its weird my sony seems to take better close ups then my new good camera. i think i am just not used to my new one enough.

Look for the Macro feature, however, even that won't usually get the kind of close up that i posted in the above photo's.

No I never would expect to get the results you guys are yet. But on the other hand I dont want to go buy still another camera. It sounds to me like I really dont know my camera features. I will check the Macro features. Hope I didnt wreck the thread. If I did Im sorry.

    Thank you

I have a 10 Mega pixel Polaroid T1031 Digital camera. I use the macro feature and a mini-tripod to take outdoor pictures of my coins and bars. It is nothing fancy but it is a decent camera and it gets the job done. I am satisfied with it.

You should just play around with the features of digital camera. When you do that, you will get to understand the features better and you will become more familiar with those features on your camera. I bought my digital camera a year ago and during the first couple of months, I would mess up taking pictures but then again, I was able to understand the features of my camera better through trial and error. The more I took pictures, the better I got. It will take some practice. It took practice for me to become familiar with the features that I will use to take coin and bar pictures.

Your right. I am just not used to taking photos of small objects like coins, on the other hand a morgan is really pretty big I guess. I will get off my duff and practice.

    Thank you,
    Steve
