My wife's aunt asked me for some page holders for banknotes. I had a few in stash, so I sent them to her, and in return she sent me a 1964, sixth edition copy of RS Yoeman's catalog of Modern World Coins. Cool vintage reference book! (wish I could still buy at these prices! ) And hence, my personal coin library groweth again
My coin Library has been growing fast...last time this year I had few books....now I have many...some I haven't even gotten to read all the way....and some are guides and such that you just don't sit down and read...so I pull out a box of coins and my books and look at them together! I've never heard of the book you named...is your Mother-in-law also a collector?? Speedy
I had never heard of it either. She's not so much a collector as much as she was a former world traveler - my wife grew up overseas for most of her life, so her family did a lot of traveling.
coin books are great, even non-numismatists can buy them for me for Christmas and obtain the exact same quality of item that I would buy for myself. It saves them from trying to figure out how to grade well enough to make intelligent coin purchases.
Exactly! I gave my wife a list of books for my christmas list. She likes getting me coins, too, but I always like books. It's a great way to make non-coin people comfortable with coin related gifts.
