Antoninus Pius Æ As. Rome, AD 140. ANTONINVS PIVS AVG P P, laureate head right / TR POT COS III, Mars right, holding spear and shield, descending through the air towards Rhea Antoninus Pius reclining left. RIC III 694a. 9.3g Livy, in his 'Ad Urbe Condita', gives an account of the myth of Rhea Silvia's encounter the god Mars, which led to the birth of Romulus and Remus and the founding of Rome. Although Livy's account was somewhat euhemerist in its approach to the subject matter, the myth persisted and can be found depicted on various famous artworks from the ancient world, such as the Casali Altar in the Vatican Museums.
i don't see anything troubling about that one ro....looks great to me. nice color, nice bust, interesting reverse. i'll give it a rating of 4 "ros" out of 5.
Nice start to 2016, ro ... => I love the scene on the reverse (very cool) Hopefully it proves to be authentic (good luck, coin-bro)
sweet photo, ro ... hey, I certainly don't claim to be a photographer, but the bottom right-hand corner of the reverse needs a touch more light (other than that => winner)
Picture is better! I'm just trying to give some constructive feedback on your image: You should try to get a set up similar to the one Doug writes about on his website to eliminate the need for cutting your coin to put it over a black background. Also when combining the coins into one image, I would leave a little black space between them and around them so nothing gets cropped out.
Ummm, I like you => somewhere in between those two photos is gonna be the money-shot, my friend!! cheers Hey, ro => I'm lazy, so I always stick with the seller's photo (but you rock, and great effort trying to take your own photos => good luck with your sweet new camera)
I'm in the middle. The coin seems like it has too much light on it unless I'm mistaken but now you can see everything better. This reminds me...I need to get my camera out and start playing with it again. For my photos I like to leave a little more black around the coin: That's just an example. I actually don't like how the obverse and reverse are lined up at the top. I should have moved the obverse down a little because in hand this coin's obverse appears smaller than the reverse because of the way they made these coins. Anyway you're doing great Ro! It's very rewarding to get a photo that really captures a coin.
