http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...1&parent_category_rn=10191&top_category=10191 Never seen this so early in the year. Another computer glitch possibly?
I don't understand the "key dates" reference - why ? I think the coins go on sale on the 10th - looks like they are advertising a bit early.
GDJMSP, I believe the coins went on sale in early February. It seems like the gold proof AGE's sold out much earlier than usual this year.
You're probably right - it's been so long since I've bought anything from the Mint I lose track of the dates. But even so, when they say product not available - it doesn't mean anything. It just means they are out of stock and have to make some more or the coins are in the packaging system. They'll be available again soon enough.
The mint's price for proof 1/10 gold eagles is $100, but the going price on that e-ba auction site isn't going over $80..... why are people running out to take a loss? At this rate, gold is gonna have to break $800 an ounce to break even, and gold is every bit as likely to go down in value as it is to go up.
if they are sold out then the 06 coins will be the key dates but I don't think that is the case. In another thread there is a link to an article saying that the mint had suspended gold proof coin sales for a price readjustment. These should go back on sale, at a higher price, later in the year.
False alarm- when I checked last, there was no explanation for stopping sales, and a "PRODUCT SOLD OUT" sign. Must have been right before the mint added the readjustment notice.
