I just got in a few new notes. The condition of the notes aren't the greatest but the price was right. The first is a 1917 $1 Large note The second is a 1917 $2 Large note The last is a 1929 $20 Chicago Note.
The $20.00 note is not a National, it is a Federal Reserve Bank Note. These were an emergency issue printed and originally released in 1933 to deal with the currency shortage that resulted from the Bank Holiday of March 1933. They were printed on existing stock of blank 1929 National Bank Note sheets. Although they may look like Nationals, the funding, issuing and redemption requirements for Nationals and FRBN were significantly different.
Its really cool to think about the history behing these bills you bought. Over the years before they were collectors items these bills have passed through many generations. The hard work and sweet that went into earning those $3 worth of currency. They all show good color. Enjoy them.........
Yes, who knows who could have held these bills and what their life was like back then. I really like the image on the $2, it shows the people travelling about the capital on their horses and buggys. Really neat!
North49guy.... Way to go on the additions! They may not be in the best condition but they do have this unique appeal about them. They portray to me the sintements that Brian mentioned in his post! Congrats on the pick up's, keep up the good work! RickieB
