I hit the KNA Coin and Stamp Show in Wichita over the weekend. Unfortunately, we didn't get to town until late Saturday afternoon. The show had long since shut down. So, we got up early on Sunday and made it just after they opened. I walked around for a little bit just eyeballing all the crap I couldn't afford. Then, I started searching for my next purchase. The first was a fantastic 1945-P Wartime Jefferson. Off all the uncirculated Jeffersons in my collection, this one has the fullest steps I have seen yet. $8.00. Then, I found a table with a great selection of Morgans that were anything but overpriced. I dug around for a little bit until I found a great 1880-S. It's a MS64, maybe a hard 65, but is she a beauty. $49.00. I sat and chatted with the guy for a minute about how much I love S mint Morgans for the sharp strikes and availability. He showed me a few others. He's one guy I will definately be buying from at the next show.
Nice pick up---check it for RPM's...there are a good many listed for that date and some are worth some money. I think you will find, that War Nickels almost always have a good sharp strike, and are much more likely to have FS's. The Silver metal was softer and therefor could fill the detail in better than the harder metal, nickel. Speedy
Folks, forgive my stupidity. The coins I bought were a 1945-D Jefferson and 1882-S Morgan. I can't keep track of my purchases lately.
I would still check for RPM's....I think I count 51 different ones in James Wiles books on that topic. Speedy
