Due to work, selling coins at the Flea Market and Gold Prospecting, it is hard to find time to catalog and 2x2 many of my error coin finds! However, with the upcoming Labor Day Holiday weekend looming, I decided that I needed to get some coins ready for the Flea Market. About six months ago I found about 20 coins that either had RPM errors or were Doubled Dies and placed them in a small plastic ziplock bag. On Thursday, I got these out for further inspection, cataloging and 2x2'ing for the Flea Market. Upon inspecting the coins, I came across a 1913-D which was fairly easy to tell that it was an RPM ("D" over "D" Mintmark) but after closer inspection, I found that the coin has a "D" over "D" over inverted "D" Mintmark. I cannot find this error listed anywhere and have no idea as to what it might be worth. Considering the value of other Lincoln Wheat Cents with only 2 Mintmarks one of which is inverted, then this coin should rank high on the value chart. My next step is to try to get it into Coneca for authentication and then have it graded and certified by PCGS or NGC. Note: Both the Secondary "D" and Inverted "D" are slightly East of the Primary and the Secondary virtually sits on top of the Inverted "D". This is what made the Inverted "D" so hard to see without futher magnification. The "D" Mintmark for this year has prominent tails of the loop (half circle) which extends well beyond (West of) the vertical bar. In this Variety, the tails of the Inverted "D" can be seen East of the Primary and Secondary "D" Mintmark with the Secondary "D's" loop laying directly on top of the Vertical bar of the Inverted "D". I just wanted to let you all know about my find so that you all can start looking for this extremely rare error coin! Good luck! Frank P.S. I am sorry that I cannot include any pics! My Digital Camera is not good enough to get pics that closeup and I need to replace it with a better quality Camera.
1913-D over D over Inverted D Lincoln Cent Re: 1913-D over D over Inverted D Lincoln Cent. I have two identical with the same same mm variety you have described. have had it for years. There must be more out there.
I'd like to know where this flea market is located. I collect error coins and if that flea market is in the Illinois area, let me know.
Sorry but it is in East Tennessee near the Great Smoky Mountains! If you are coming down this way and want to know where to find it, just send me a PM and I will give you the directions. Frank
