Well, we have spilled grape juice, spilled tea and spilled green tea?, so I guess it is orange juice's turn!?
We've been anticipating it here on CT for some time already, and you can follow the count down clock provided by newmoney.gov
...of course it will be, that's the part of the point of updating it, better anti-counterfeiting measures to put in place for one.
I am slightly excited.I didnt know, and glad I didnt know until now.this way I didnt have months of anticipation.I hope it looks awesome, something very old skoolish.
Yeah, and I hope it has that French look, perhaps they will have copied this 100F note: I suspect it will have neither, unfortunately.... Dave
As I have said before, my main excitement will be to see the new low-vision numeral on the new $100 bill. If they did add it, as they said they would be, for years, that will be considered a major design change to me. It will be weird to see a huge three didget numeral 100 on the back of the $100. I wonder how deep the new low-vision 100 will go into the picture of Independence Hall. And for some reason, I picture the low-vision numeral on the $100 to be a different color than green. For some reason, red comes to mind. And with the visually impaired saying they have trouble denominating the $100 bill from a $1 or $2 bill was because the current $100 has no low-vision numeral. I'm one of the people that get really excited over these things though. Not so much new coins. I'm more interested in the design changes of the bills.
Wouldn't a red numberal on a mostly green / black design be hard to read for certain color blind persons? The Series 1928 notes had a rather large 100 in the field of the face of the notes, as did the gold certs and the 1966 red seals... but I doubt it will be be as big as an old watermelon note reverse.
Not sure. I don't know how that works, but if you want my hoenst opinion, if the goal of the visually impaired is to have a large "dark" numeral on each denomination, I think the low-vision numerals on all of the redesigned bills should be black in color, including changing that huge purple 5 on the new $5 bill into a huge black 5. That purple used in the current $5 bill's low-vision numeral is too light in color for the visually impaired to see really well. It should have been a darker color, as some visually impaired group members had complained about the new purple 5 on the new $5 bill, despite how big it is.
I don't mind the purple, but some sort of braille or special texture, maybe even a woven material in the shape of the 5 would suit, regardless of colors employeed.
I think that 'blue bar' strip would look better in hand than in an image. Have to wait to see before I pass any judgement on the new note. The 3D effect might be impressive.
Overall I think it's a yawner. Seems everytime new issues are hyped so much they are always dissapointing. I do like the reverse with the large gold 100.
Disappointing in what way? It's hard to say what will become a numismatically attractive note with a premium until down the road until we know print runs, errors, etc. Still think on the day of release, with no notes in hand to look at it's premature at best to downplay the new design. Plus we are that much farther away from design changes of the past, closing the book on previous series and still earlier series being removed to replace with the newer 'more secure'(?) series being released.
