Hello Community, Here I have two of my more intriguing silver dollars. I have my own opinion of grade but appreciate all opinions. I'm considering sending them off to be slabbed. This would mar the first coins I have ever sent out. I have considered "ICG" for the reviews and suggestions I have had from a many of people. Any suggestions on grading companies would also be appreciated. On to my thoughts of these two coins: The 1904 "O" has an extreme PL if not DMPL effect throughout the Obverse and Reverse fields. However the Reverse seems to generate more reflection than the Obverse. I assume this is not uncommon? I tried the ruler test while taking a few pictures but realized I'm not as good at photography as I thought. The Reverse reflects to 6" but the Obverse only makes it about 5" before getting distorted. I'd love to see the coin return with a DMPL but not sure if it will. Second up is my 1928 "S" for the history of this coin and its low number of higher grades, I don't see a reason not to send it off. Please feel free to grade away on these two. As a side note, a year ago I was blessed with my first child. These coins are just part of my collection that will one day be my Son's. While his mother and I couldn't keep our marriage together, I picked up this hobby and have been searching strongly for a good while now. Hopefully when the time comes to pass my collection on, I will have built something worth great value should he ever need it. Thanks to everyone!
Based on your pictures it's impossible to say if the Morgan is PL or not. With all the marks, spots, etc. I can't even tell if it's worth sending in for grading. Regarding the Peace, the coin is XF at best in my opinion and it is entirely possible it might be slabbed as problem coin. So no, I definitely would not send that one in.
Skip the peace dollar I would say it is an xf 40 which is only worth about 48 dollars but I think it had been cleaned which makes it worth only about 32 dollars !!
I think the Peace has been cleaned too. Looks just like my current pocket piece. I don't know enough about Morgans to offer an opinion.
