State Treasurer Brian K. Krolicki announced today that a majority of those voting for the state quarter chose "Morning in Nevada," the quarter design with three galloping wild horses, sagebrush along the bottom of the quarter, a sur rising behind snow-capped mountains, with the State's nickname "The Silver State."

It's too bad the silver state won't be issuing a silver quarter.

Even though they are wild, now they're also "quarter" horses!

Good observation, Montana. Should really catch on with folks in the West!

They won't. But, the US Mint will when it issues the silver proof sets.

"morning in Nevada" is the most cluttered of the five designs, so its only natural they would choose that one.

It's not exactly what I think of when remembering Nevada, which is seldom.

Perhaps they should have gone with a pair of dice, a slot machine, and a roulette wheel for the reverse instead.

Cloudsweeper99, Neveda WILL get their silver quarter but it will be issued by the U.S. Mint in the silver sets!

Old Dan: Don't you like those hot, dry deserts? And the mirages?

Palindrome: How about adding the Palamino Ranch to the reverse?

    :) :)

I saw a suggestion for the Nevada state quarter a while back that someone had actually turned up with their CAD/CAM machine and it had a topographical map of Nevada with a flat, blank spot where Area 51 is. I thought that would have been appropriate.
