Any ideas of value folks? Got this today. Saw one on the net at $600 but that was Unc....many thanks...Marbury
The coins are quite common and hold little value even though they only had a mintage of 218,330. To give you some idea, in an auction held in June of this year, a lot of 44 of these coins dated from 1762-95 averaging in grade from Fine to Very Fine - the entire lot of 44 coins sold for $650.00. So hopefully you didn't pay very much for this one.
Whoops......that'll teach me to move out of my comfort zone.....paid about £45....so not great.......going to post my other buys from today up now.
People can offer to sell a coin for anything - and sometimes do so. But that doesn't mean the coin is worth that much. Example - blatant counterfeits often sell for full retail value on ebay. Does that mean that counterfeit is worth that much ? A genuine coin can sell for $200 on ebay, or from a coin dealer's shop. But the next day I can go looking and find 5 of the exact same coins in the same grade and buy all 5 of them for $200 total. So was the coin on ebay worth $200 ?
