I have collected young head Wilhelmina coinage for quite a few years - she was a long ruling monarch of The Netherlands who had numerous portraits on her coinage during her reign. When this medal came up for auction recently I knew I had to have it:

This medal was created as a prize medal, in bronze, silver and gold and was meant to be engraved and awarded in 1892. It is a large 77 millimetre sized bronze medal that has fantastic detail with a good high relief.

I like the portrait because of the similarity in the portrait with that used on the coinage in the early and mid 1890's.

That's absolutely gorgeous scottishmoney. I love your medal...congrats on a great pickup. Just out of curiosity, do you think it would have added value if it were engraved? I've always wondered about the value of award-type medals being engraved or not. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
